Buffer Prep Vessel Charging

Rheo designed and built a material handling system for processing USP-grade salts in a Class I, Division 2 hazardous environment, using fully pneumatic equipment and controls to ensure safe and compliant operation.

An Automated Drum Conditioner with programmable recipes was included to break up hardened salts, allowing them to flow freely from the drums into the next process step.

A Variable Height Drum Tipper with a portable operator platform then enabled ergonomic unloading of the agglomerated salt into an underdriven conical mill, which deagglomerated the salt into a flowable form suitable for rapid dissolution in the mixing vessel.

A custom portable Drum Inverter with a slewing column directed the salt into the tank through a sanitary butterfly valve and flexible compensator, ensuring a clean and controlled transfer.

A Drum Mover was used for moving heavy salt drums.

All product contact surfaces were electropolished for enhanced corrosion resistance and hygienic performance. The system’s pneumatic controls featured safety interlocks and collision avoidance to protect nearby equipment and maintain reliable, efficient operation throughout the process.
