Bulk Powder Induction into Liquid

This integrated solution combines a Bulk Bag Unloading Station (BBUS) with an IKA high‑shear mixer to deliver a highly efficient, scalable approach for powder handling and solution preparation. By enabling the use of super sacks for sugars and other high‑volume powders, the system allows customers to move away from paper sacks or drums—significantly reducing raw material packaging costs, handling time, and waste.

The BBUS features a sealed bag clamp with integrated dust extraction, providing a clean, controlled transfer during bag change‑out. Compared to dumping drums into an open tank manway, this approach offers a safer and cleaner operation while reducing housekeeping and operator exposure. Powders are introduced directly into the process through the IKA mixer and pumped into the solution vessel, accelerating dissolution, improving batch consistency, and shortening overall batch cycle time. Upstream milling is used to verify that particle size meets the requirements of the high-shear mixer, ensuring reliable incorporation and consistent performance during processing.

To further enhance flexibility and ergonomics, the system incorporates a small additions table and hopper positioned adjacent to the BBUS. This enables flavors, colorants, thickeners, and other low‑volume ingredients to be added at ground level, improving operator safety and comfort. By eliminating the need to carry materials up stairs for addition through a tank manway, the system reduces ergonomic risk, improves workflow efficiency, and supports safer daily operations.
