For this project, the client needed to pack out a cosmetic product from supersacks into smaller bags and boxes for shipment to their customers.
The supersack was fitted with a SoliValveĀ® 250 passive valve for simple connection to the Active SoliValveĀ® 250 on the bulk bag unloading frame. The SoliValveĀ® allowed for clean connection/disconnection of supersacks without operator intervention, as well as provided flow aids for the material to move out of the bag into the process equipment below.
The powder then passed over a series of rare earth magnets to remove any potential ferrous contaminants, and into a powered sifter which screened the material to size. From there a dosing screw feeder moved the material into the receiving bag, which rested on load cells.
The pack out process required that each bag be filled with 25kg of material, in 100 seconds or less, with +/- 50g accuracy. A touch screen HMI managed all process parameters and the entire pack out process was automated by the system PLC, for repeatable flow and dosing of material.
